Fuel pump gear pump pressure test
Purpose: To check whether the fuel pump gear pressure is normal
- The following tools are required for inspection: INSITETM service software, CompuchekTM fittings (part number 3824844), pressure gauges [0 to 300 psi], pressure gauges [0 to 30 psi].
- Install the pressure gauge:
Remove the plug at the fuel filter seat inlet and install the CompuchekTM fitting (part number 3824844) to the inlet of the fuel filter seat. Install a pressure gauge from [0 to 300 psi] to the CompuchekTM fitting at the inlet of the fuel filter holder.
Run the engine at high idle and observe the fuel gear pump pressure. The gear pump pressure at high idle speed should be no less than 75 psi.
When the engine is not starting, install a 0-30 psi pressure gauge to the Compucheck fitting at the inlet of the fuel filter holder. The motor drives the engine to observe the fuel gear pump pressure. The gear pump pressure should not be less than 10 psi when the motor is cranked.
